Eligibility for Membership

  1. Must be a resident in the jurisdiction with a good character, aged 18 years more.
  2. Should be already engaged in a lawful business, self-employment or industry in the jurisdiction or should be able to present reasonable reasons for starting a new business.
  3. If residing outside the jurisdiction, should be able to prove that the business or industry operates within the jurisdiction, and must present two permanent residents in the jurisdiction as guarantors.
  4. Should purchase 50 shares to obtain regular membership.
  5. Should have satisfactorily operated an account at the society before applying for regular membership.

Applying for the Membership

  1. Those who are eligible for membership should duly complete a form accepted by the society in two copies and submit it to the board of directors of the society through the general secretary of the society. The Board of Directors may recruit members subject to the approval of the General Assembly after considering the applications submitted to them.
  2. A fee is charged for admission to the membership of the Society and the member is bound to pay that fee. Membership fee will not be refunded in case of membership withdrawal.

Other Necessary Documents

  1. Proof of Residency certified by the Grama Niladhari.
  2. A photo copy of the National Identity Card.
  3. A Passport sized photograph.
