The Bodhi Puja Ceremony organized to commemorate the 16th Anniversary of the Business Development Cooperative Society was celebrated at the Henawatta Sri Vivekarama Purana Vihara on 2018-02-07.
Mr. Lalith Wanigaratne, Hon Minister of Provincial Roads, Transport, Co-Operative Development and Trade, Housing and Construction, Estate Infrastructure Facilities, Industry And Rural Development of the Western Province handed over the letter of appointing Hon Secretary General of the Society Mr. Gamini Jayaweera as Director of the Western Provincial Passenger Transport Authority.

15th anniversary of the Business Development Cooperative Society was ceremoniously held on 07th February 2017 at the Society’s Head Office.
Mr. Dulip Wijesekera, Honorable Deputy Minister of Postal Services & Muslim Religious Affairs joined the ceremony as the chief guest, and Mr. M.S. Marikkar, Member of Parliament and UNP Chief Organizer of the Kolonnawa Electorate, Mr. W.A. Udaya Bandara, the General Manager of the National Savings Bank, Mr. E.W. Priyantha, Deputy General Manager of the National Savings Bank, Board Members of the Society, and inaugurating members participated at this occasion.
Philatelic Bureau of Sri Lanka issued a new stamp in commemoration of this occasion, and a new logo was also introduced for the society. Also, the inaugurating members of the society were honoured at this ceremony.
Although the Cooperative System exists as a part of the lives of the general public, there is a lack of related books and articles. The Business Development Cooperative Society, in order to fill this gap, has assisted Mr. Abhayaratna Bandara Bulatgama, Deputy Secretary of the National Cooperative Board, Director of Education, Lecturer of the Polgolla Cooperative College, and a veteran on Cooperative Laws, to publish his book “සමූපකාර නීතියට අදාල නඩු තීන්දු”. The first copy of this book was recently presented to HE the President at the Presidential Secretariat, with the presence of Asiri Weerasekara, the Western Province Cooperative Development Commissioner/Registrar and the Deshamanya Mr. Piyal Ramawickrama, the Chairman of the Business Development Cooperative Society.
